Wyoming Layoff Resources

If you have been laid off in Wyoming, start here for unemployment, health coverage, basic-needs assistance, workforce services, and help with possible workplace problems.

Eligibility varies by program, so use the official links below for current rules and applications.

Unemployment Benefits and Filing

Wyoming Unemployment Insurance may provide temporary income if you lost work through no fault of your own. File a weekly claim for every week you want benefits and report all work and earnings. Unless exempt, state rules require you to contact at least two employers each week and keep a detailed record of those contacts.

Layoff-Notice Protections

Wyoming does not have a separate state mini-WARN law that expands federal thresholds. Federal WARN may require 60 days of advance notice for certain large layoffs or plant closings. Wyoming Rapid Response can provide reemployment and training help.

Health-Insurance Coverage

Losing job-based insurance usually creates a special enrollment opportunity. Compare HealthCare.gov coverage, Wyoming Medicaid, and COBRA before choosing.

Food, Cash, Childcare, Utility, and Local Assistance

The Wyoming Eligibility System is a starting point for public benefits, while the Department of Family Services administers SNAP, childcare assistance, and other programs. Energy assistance has separate rules. For local food, housing, utility, and emergency help, use Wyoming 211.

Workforce and Reemployment Services

Wyoming Workforce Centers provide no-cost employment and training services, including job-search help, career guidance, veteran services, computer access, and information about training assistance.

Workplace Problems and Legal Help

Wyoming DWS Labor Standards handles certain unpaid-wage claims. Final wages generally must be paid by the next regular payday. The Fair Employment Program handles covered state employment-discrimination complaints; state complaints generally must be filed within six months of the alleged discriminatory or unfair employment practice, while federal deadlines can differ.
